Together with the BMZ, the Bundesministerium für WIrtschaft und Entwicklung, Esther Perbandt spend 5 days in Bangladesh to film a documentary about the textile industry in this country. Esther met victims of the Rana Plaza accident april 2014, interviewed factory owners and workers, talked to the fascinating trade union woman Nazmer Akhter and visited a female factory worker at her tiny home. Especially the last visit (see 2nd video) was very emotional and a situation which Esther will never forget.
What Esther experienced and learned is that int the end it is not a solution not to buy from Bangladesh anymore, because it would just shift the problem to another country. But it is important how you buy it and that you know the production chain and can trust them
